Jeff Betancourt - Helpful Human
“As part of the Liquid Web software arm, I get to work with some of the most creative and hard-working people in WordPress.”

Meet Jeff Betancourt

Jeff Betancourt was born and raised in Rochester, New York, where he currently lives. He has a Bachelor of Science in Management Information Systems from the Rochester Institute of Technology.

Betancourt began his technology career in the IT department of an aerial imaging and software company. From there, he decided to pursue a professional accounting project for his city school district (RCSD). His experiences in technology and his accounting prepared him to be a perfect fit for his current role at GiveWP, where he is now a customer success advocate for two brands: GiveWP and WP Business Reviews.

Why did you join Liquid Web?

I was excited to join Liquid Web as part of the acquisition when they bought GiveWP.

What attracts you to the hospitality industry as a career?

I love that Liquid Web has acquired plugin companies to include some of the best WordPress solutions as part of the corporation, including the best WordPress donation plugin, GiveWP!

Is there something specific about Liquid Web that you love?

As part of the Liquid Web software arm, I get to work with some of the most creative and hard-working people in WordPress.

What is your favorite part of the company culture at Liquid Web?

My favorite part of Liquid Web’s company culture is that it is team-oriented. It’s easy to communicate with other employees outside of your team via Slack, Zoom, Google Hangouts, and Twitter.

In your opinion, what is the difference between Liquid Web and other employers?

Unlike the corporate world I was a part of in the past, with strict dress codes and formal rules, at Liquid Web you can be yourself and wear your normal everyday clothes. I feel this creates a nice atmosphere knowing that his employer values his work more than whether or not he wears a tie to look at spreadsheets.

What is the biggest milestone you have achieved?

I started working part-time in 2019, not knowing much about WordPress, and evolved into a full-time position solving problems for clients and recovering countless accounts.

Tell us about an amazing customer experience you’ve had at Liquid Web.

At GiveWP, the experience of our customers is very important to us. One of the mindsets that our entire team has adopted is to decrease friction. We try to anticipate and resolve customer problems and needs at first contact. Taking this approach has led to many great customer experiences and feedback, including this message I received from a customer in September:

Jeff, you are a rock star! Thank you! This is by far the BEST customer service I have ever received, and I am on the high end of being a GenXer! I felt respected and informed, and you addressed my concerns and anticipated and resolved additional questions. Once again, thank you for your amazing customer service!

What are you known for on Liquid Web? What specifically do people come to you for?

At Liquid Web, we are focused specifically on the customer. Within GiveWP, I am known for troubleshooting client subscriptions and licenses, client account management, and subscription revenue recovery. (I also frequently prank my office mate, Michelle Frechette, who still forgets to check her mouse for tape when she’s not working.)

What is something you would like our clients to know about your accommodation?

I wish customers knew that Liquid Web can solve a lot of problems through hosting and the many plugin solutions we offer within StellarWP.

What is your nickname on Liquid Web and why?

I once got a Dundee award for being the best office barista! (The trophy is a comic reference to the TV show The Office.)

Apart from work, what are some of your hobbies?

I love exploring the world, whether it’s a weekend getaway to the Adirondacks or a longer trip to Brazil, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, and beyond.

What is your favorite TV series?

The Office is my favorite TV show of all time.

What’s your favorite app?

I love Capital One. It is so well designed and easy to use. With a background in finance, I can appreciate when a financial application is secure and designed to meet the needs of clients.

If you could have dinner with a famous person [dead or alive]Who could it be?

I think it would be fun to have dinner with Bad Bunny, who is from Puerto Rico: my heritage, culture and whose music I love! You can find Jeff on Twitter. We hope you enjoyed our series and stay tuned for the next helpful human profile.
